NELSON MANDELA BAY STADIUM

City: Port Elizabeth Capacity: 48,000 Built: 2009)

Nelson Mandela Bay has a great position on the shores of North End Lake, with views of both the lake and Indian Ocean (a few kms away). This five-tier stadium has a seating capacity of 44, 000 with an additional 4, 000 temporary seats available for the 2010 Football World Cup.

Construction of the stadium began in January 2007, and this was the first of South Africa's five newly-built 2010 World Cup Stadiums to be completed. The stadium was to be one of the venues for the 2009 Confederations Cup, however, there was some concern as to whether it would be ready on time (which, in fact, it would have been).

It's easy to get to the stadium, as it's close to the N2 national highway and about a 15-minute drive from Port Elizabeth's main hotel sector.

Nelson Mandela Bay will host: 5 first-round matches, 1 second-round match, a quarter final and the third-place playoff of the 2010 Football World Cup.
